Orange Football Gears Up For Home Opener

The Syracuse football team opens its home schedule Saturday, Sept. 18 at 12 p.m. when the Orange hosts the Cincinnati Bearcats. This will be the fifth meeting between SU and Cincinnati. The Orange leads the all-time series 3-1. The Bearcats won the most recent meeting, 12-10, at Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium in 2000.
The game will be broadcast on the SU Radio Network, with WAQX-95.7FM serving as the flagship station. In addition, the game will be televised live on ESPN Regional Television.
Syracuse is 83-24-4 all-time in home openers, and 14-10 in home openers since the Carrier Dome opened in 1980. The Orange has won three of its last five home openers, 21-10 against Central Florida in 2001, 63-7 against Buffalo in 2000 and 47-7 against Central Michigan in 1999. The program’s longest unbeaten streak in home openers is 49 games from 1894-1942 (47-0-2). SU is 6-7 in its home debuts under Paul Pasqualoni.
