
SU Volleyball Returns Home to Face Albany

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orange volleyball team returns home to Manley Field House to take on Albany on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 p.m. After going 1-2 at the Penn/Sheraton Tournament during the weekend, SU looks to get back on the winning track. The Orange is 6-0 at home this season, and 6-0 when facing a team from New York.
CONWAY NAMED TO PENN/SHERATON ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Junior Kristen Conway was named to the Penn/Sheraton All-Tournament team, her second all-tournament selection of the season (Big Orange Tournament MVP, Sept. 10-11). Conway led the Orange with 45 kills on 124 attempts. She also had two service aces, 28 digs and five total blocks. For the season, Conway leads Syracuse with 175 kills on 476 attempts. She has 14 service aces, 133 digs and 26 total blocks.
DUAN RECORDS 100TH CAREER ACE
In SU’s match against Saint Francis, Kelly Duan recorded three service aces. Heading into the match, Duan needed one service ace to give her 100 for her career. Duan currently has 103 aces in her career and 25 for the season. Duan needs just seven more aces to move into 10th on SU’s all-time service aces list.
CONWAY POSTS 2,500TH CAREER ATTACK
Junior Kristen Conway recorded her 2,500th career attack in Saturday’s 3-1 win against Saint Francis. With 15 attacks against Penn, Conway finished the weekend with 2,564 career attacks. She moved into seventh place on the career attacks list, passing Aimee Mask (1989-92). Conway is 21 attacks away from passing Anne Parisien (1989-91), who hold the sixth spot.
TWO EXHIBITIONS ADDED TO THE SCHEDULE
The Orange added two exhibition matches to its schedule. SU will face Tianjin University of Technology on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 3:00 p.m. in Manley Field House. The following week, Syracuse will play the Royal Military College of Canada at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6 in the Women’s Building.
SU AMONG THE BIG EAST
The Orange is atop the BIG EAST standings with a 13-3 record.
Prior to this week’s action, Syracuse leads the BIG EAST with the lowest opponent hitting percentage at .129, and had the second-best hitting percentage in the conference (.231). The Orange is tied for first in service aces per game with a 1.98 average. SU is fourth in the conference in blocks per game (2.45) and fifth in kills per game (14.83).
