Volleyball Stays Undefeated With Win Against Fairleigh Dickinson

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Freshman Ellen Bruegge had nine kills on 10 attempts, a .800 hitting percentage and three block assists to help the Orange volleyball team to a 3-0 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on the last day of the Army Open. SU, now 4-0 on the season, won the match, 30-15, 30-19, 30-22.
Senior Morgan Jones notched a team leading 12 kills on 33 attempts, and junior Kathryn Dercher had 34 assists, three digs and one solo block. Freshman Cheryl Cobbina had 10 kills and three block assists, and freshman Joscie Kaup had 18 digs.
Heather Galaydick had 10 digs, and Keri Rowlands had 12 assists for the Knights.
The Orange returns home to host the Big Orange Tournament, Friday, Sept. 10 and Saturday, Sept. 11. The tournament features teams from Cleveland State, Manhattan, Siena and New Hampshire. All games will be played at Manley Field House. Syracuse’s first game will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. versus Cleveland State.
