2004-05 Women's Basketball Schedule Announced

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Ten games versus 2004 postseason qualifiers highlight the 2004-05 Syracuse women’s basketball schedule released on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Syracuse will play 14 home games, including its season opener on Friday, Nov. 19 versus Niagara.
The Orange has 11 non-conference games on the slate. Following its opener against the Purple Eagles, SU will face Yale on the road on Nov. 21. Other home non-conference contests include Manhattan (Nov. 24), Binghamton (Dec. 2), 2004 WNIT participant Kent State (Dec. 11), 2004 NCAA qualifier Auburn (Dec. 19) and Cornell (Dec. 30). Syracuse travels to non-conference games at Quinnipiac (Nov. 28), Massachusetts (Dec. 4), Albany (Dec. 7) and Sacred Heart (Dec. 28).
Syracuse will play 16 BIG EAST games, including home and away contests with five teams. The Orange opens the conference schedule on Jan. 2 with a home matchup with Pittsburgh. SU’s first BIG EAST road game is at Notre Dame on Jan. 5. Syracuse will play home games with Providence (Jan. 12), Boston College (Feb. 12), and Seton Hall (Feb. 26), while traveling to St. John’s (Jan. 22), West Virginia (Jan. 26) and Connecticut (Feb. 19). The Orange plays home-and-away series versus Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Villanova, Georgetown and Rutgers.
The Orange will play one exhibition game, taking on Syracuse AAU at Manley Field House on Sunday, Nov. 7.
SU returns seven letterwinners and four starters from last year’s team. The Orange will welcome five freshman to the roster that comprised the 24th-best recruiting class in the nation according to the Blue Star Index.
