Freeney Earns Another NFL Accolade

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Former Orange standout and current Indianapolis Colts’ defensive end Dwight Freeney was named to The Associated Press 2004 NFL All-Pro First Team. Colts’ wide receiver Marvin Harrison earned a spot on the second team. The panel of voters was comprised of 48 nationwide writers and broadcasters who cover pro football.
Freeney was the NFL’s top vote-getter at defensive end with 44 votes. He leads the NFL with 16 sacks and made his second consecutive Pro Bowl this season. This year he recorded three sacks in back-to-back victories over Tennessee and Houston. He is the first defensive player in the Colts’ 21 seasons in Indianapolis to make two or more Pro Bowls.
Harrison received 18 votes and finished behind only Terrell Owens and Muhsin Muhammad on the first team. Harrison made his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl and was the AFC’s leading vote-getter at receiver among fans with 722,477 votes. He leads the Colts with 86 receptions for 1,113 yards receiving this season and has 15 touchdown receptions.
