SYRACUSE, NY -- #6/7 Syracuse (14-1, 1-0) hosts Seton Hall (6-4, 0-1) in its BIG EAST Conference home opener on Saturday, January 8, at 7:00 p.m., in the Carrier Dome. As a preliminary exhibition to the main event, Syracuse alumni will scrimmage beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Among the former players scheduled to participate in the Alumni game are Wendell Alexis, Roosevelt Bouie, Tony Bruin, Marty Headd, Jim Lee, Greg Monroe, Howard Triche and Gene Waldron.
The Syracuse-Seton Hall matchup will feature two more prominent alumni -- Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and Seton Hall mentor Louis Orr. Boeheim coached his 690th SU triumph on Wednesday when the Orange won at St. John's, 79-65. It also represented his 298th BIG EAST Conference triumph. Orr, who became a fan favorite as part of the "Louie and Bouie" tandem, was an SU assistant before earning his first head coaching job at Siena. After one year at Siena he was hired at Seton Hall. Orr still ranks 22nd in career scoring (1,487) and ninth in career rebounding (881) at SU.
Syracuse leads the overall series with Seton Hall, 39-14, although the Pirates won last year's matchup in the Meadowlands.
