
SU Basketball Fans Contribute More Than $34,600 for Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund

SYRACUSE, NY -- Fans attending Syracuse University’s men’s basketball game against Seton Hall on Saturday, January 8, 2005 donated $34,679 to the American Red Cross Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund, which will be added to the $10,820 collected during the week at SU’s Hendricks Chapel for a contribution of $45,502 from the Syracuse community. More than 25,500 attended the basketball game at the Carrier Dome.
The Syracuse University Athletics Department and the Carrier Dome coordinated the effort with assistance from Citadel Communications and WTVH-TV5. The Syracuse University Office of Alumni Relations, Key Bank and the SU Athletics Department provided volunteers to staff the collection points at the Carrier Dome.
