
Men's Lacrosse Wins All Three Games at Pumpkin Stick-Out

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Senior attackman Timothy Raschdorf scored a team-high six goals and had one assist as the Syracuse University men's lacrosse team won each of its three games at the Pumpkin Stick-Out. The annual fall lacrosse tournament welcomes local upstate New York college programs to compete against each other at Syracuse University's Lampe Athletics Complex. The event is a fund-raiser for youth lacrosse in the area.
The Orange defeated Le Moyne in its first game, 6-5. The teams played two 35-minute halves of running time. Six different players scored for Syracuse, including freshmen Pat Perritt and Kenny Nims, sophomores Mike Leveille and Greg Niewieroski, senior Greg Rommel and transfer graduate student Joe Yevoli. Freshmen Matt Abbott and Dan Hardy added assists. Starting in goal for Syracuse in its first game was redshirt freshman Pete Coluccini.
SU posted an 11-6 victory against Cortland in its second game. Nims led the offense with three goals, while Raschdorf chipped in with two. Leveille had a goal and an assist. The other goal scorers for Syracuse were Rommel, Yevoli, Brett Bucktooth, Nathan Kenney and Steve Babbles. Perritt and sophomore Brendan Loftus had assists against the Red Dragons. Sophomore Jake Myers and Casey Rotella shared time in goal for the Orange.
In its final game of the afternoon, Syracuse defeated Herkimer, 13-3. Raschdorf scored a team-high four goals and added an assist. Loftus tallied three goals, while Niewieroski and sophomore midfielder Dan Didio each scored twice. Perritt and Hardy also netted goals for the 'Cuse. Kenney, Abbott and Joe D'Arrigo recorded assists in the win. Goaltending duties were shared by Rotella and sophomore walk-on Nick Huertas.
The Pumpkin Stick-Out concludes fall competition for the Orange. The team will now concentrate on its weight-lifting and conditioning program until official practice begins in January.
