Brennan-McBride, Harris and Jones Sign N.L.I. With Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse University men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim has announced that Paul Harris of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Devin Brennan-McBride of London, Ontario and Mike Jones of Hopkins, S.C. have signed national letters-of-intent to play for the Orange starting next season.
Harris, a 6-5, 220, forward, is currently enrolled at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., after spending the previous two seasons playing at Niagara Falls High School. Last season, he helped Niagara Falls to a 28-1 record and a number-three ranking from USA Today. He averaged 20.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Harris compiled 1,100 points, 730 rebounds, 286 assists and 115 steals in his two years starting at Niagara Falls. He was coached by 2005 USA Today High School Coach of the Year Dan Bazzani.
He was named first team all-state in 2005 and earned second-team laurels in 2004. Harris was named one of 11 top juniors in the country by USA Today in 2005. He received MVP honors at the 2005 New York Class AA Tournament after leading Niagara Falls to the state crown. It marked the first time a Western New York School had won the large class state crown.
This past summer he was a member of the USA Youth Developmental Festival White Team that won the gold medal in the 2005 International Sports Invitational. The event was held in June in San Diego. Harris had 28 points in the gold-medal game. He led the seven-team field with 9.0 rebounds per game and ranked fifth among scorers, averaging 16.8 points per game.
Harris is rated 9th in the Class of 2006 by Dave Telep of Scout.com. He is ranked eighth overall by Hoopmasters.com. He is the second-ranked shooting guard and 11th overall by Rivals.com. Clark Francis of Hoopscooponline.com has him ranked 15th.
Brennan-McBride, a 6-9, 240, center, is playing at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School. He has spent time playing AAU ball with the Waterloo Wildcats and played on the Ontario Provincial Team that won the gold medal at the 2005 Summer Games in Regina.
He is rated the 27th best center by Scout.com.
Jones, a 6-6, 210, forward, is currently enrolled at Lower Richland High School. He averaged 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks per game as a junior, while leading Lower Richland to the third round of the Class 4A playoffs and earning Class 4A State Player of the Year honors. He has also spent time playing for the South Carolina Ravens AAU team.
Jones is rated 34th by scout.com and 10th among forwards, while rivals.com rated him 37th overall, 11th at his position.
