SU Seniors Take Field For Last Time At Louisville

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – On Saturday, Nov. 26, the 2005 Orange will take the field against #17/18 Louisville at 3:30 p.m. at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. The 21 seniors will play for the final time in their Orange careers, looking to knock off the Cardinals in the Bluegrass State. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
The 2005 seniors have put some big numbers in their four-year careers on the hill. Among them are:
Damien Rhodes is currently ninth all-time in career rushing yards at SU, surpassing the great Ernie Davis with 112 yards in South Bend last Saturday.
DeAndre LaCaille has registered 42 tackles in his career as a cornerback.
Anthony Smith has six interceptions this season, which is tied for seventh on the single-season list in the BIG EAST. His 14 career picks is third all-time at SU, and is tied for third in the conference all-time chart.
Steve Gregory ranks second on the career blocked kicks ledger with five, and is third all-time in passes defended with 40.
Thomas Whitfield has contributed 74 career tackles in his four years with an interception and a pair of forced fumbles.
Kellen Pruitt has totaled 247 career tackles, including 18.0 for a loss.
Quinn Ojinnaka has played in 41 games and has not missed a start in the last two seasons. He was the first true freshman to start on the offensive line since 1986.
Kader Drame has compiled 76 tackles and eight tackles for a loss in his four-year career. He has also broken up seven passes.
Steve Franklin has participated in every game since 2003 and has started every game on the offensive line the last two seasons. He is one of the team’s captains this season.
Kurt Falke played in seven games in his junior year, and started six games this season. A knee injury sidelines him for the other games.
Joe Kowalewski has caught 30 passes for 434 yards in his four years, a 14.5 average, with three touchdowns.
Alex Shor has caught eight passes for 88 yards in his senior season. His career totals are nine catches for 98 yards.
James Wyche serves as the other captain for the Orange. He ranks sixth on SU’s career tackles by a down lineman list with 196, and his 28.0 tackles for a loss is seventh all-time.
Tommy Harris is having the best year of his career as a senior, as he has 44 tackles and two tackles for a loss. He has totaled 63 tackles and four for a loss in his career.
Ryan LaCasse’s seven sacks this season is tied for 33rd in the country. He has recorded 108 tackles, 19.5 for a loss, with 14.5 sacks in his career.
Christopher Calderon, Cory Brooks, Joe Neumann, Kevin Kopko, Eugene Brown, and Justin Opalenski are the other seniors that will participate in their final game in Louisville.
