SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse has reached an agreement with ESPN Radio 1260 (WNSS-AM) for the station to carry 11 women’s basketball contests in the Syracuse area this year, SU Director of Athletics Dr. Daryl Gross announced on Wednesday, Nov. 23. The 11-game package includes tonight’s game at Niagara.
In addition to SU’s clash with the Purple Eagles, 10 of the Orange’s 11 remaining road games will aired live on WNSS-AM, including showdowns at nationally-ranked Rutgers (Feb. 19) and De Paul (Feb. 28). All of SU’s games – home and away – can be heard live on Syracuse’s official Web site suathletics.com. as part of SU’s “All Access” subscription package.
Brian Higgins will be the play-by-play announcer for all of SU’s games in 2005-06. Higgins, an SU alum, is in his second season as the “voice of the Orange women’s basketball team.” He also calls the action for the SU men’s lacrosse squad and presents live updates and player profiles on Syracuse football broadcasts.
In addition to women’s basketball, ESPN Radio 1260 is the home of SU’s men’s lacrosse team. Orange football and men’s basketball games can also be heard on 1260 AM as well as WAQX-FM (95.7 FM) in Syracuse.
