Wyche Selected To Play In East-West Shrine Game

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior defensive end James Wyche (Roosevelt, N.Y.) will participate in the 81st East-West Shrine Game in San Antonio, Texas on January 21, 2006. The game is slated for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff on ESPN2.
Last season, Diamond Ferri represented SU in the Shrine Game.
The annual game will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio. This is the first year the game will be played in the Lone Star State, as it was previously played in San Francisco. The game is played annually to benefit the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children since 1923. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster by clicking here.
Wyche is the 67th SU player to play in the game. He finished his Orange career ranked fifth on the career tackles by a down lineman list with 203. His 30.0 career tackles for a loss is tied for sixth at SU. Wyche has forced four fumbles this season, and his .36 per game average ranks 11th nationally.
For the second-straight season, Wyche led the down lineman in tackles with 58. In 2004, he was a second-team All-BIG EAST selection as he recorded 68 tackles and 5.5 sacks. His 15.0 tackles for a loss last year was the fifth-highest single season mark at SU.
