SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Junior attackman Brian Crockett (Yorktown, N.Y.) scored off a pass from senior midfielder Jarett Park (Otisco, N.Y.) with five seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to lift Syracuse to a 13-13 tie with Navy in the first scrimmage of the season for the Orange. The scoreboard was reset to 0-0 after each quarter, but in the end, each team won two periods by a single goal.
Freshman attackman Mike Leveille (Delmar, N.Y.) tallied a team-high four goals for the Orange. Junior attackman Brett Bucktooth (Onondaga Nation, N.Y.), who played his first two seasons at Syracuse as a midfielder, registered a game-high five points on one goal and four assists. Navy's Billy Looney also had five points. His came off of four goals and one assist.
Senior goaltender Jay Pfeifer (Towson, Md.) played all 60 minutes for Syracuse. He finished with three saves. Matt Russell had seven saves in 56 minutes of action for Navy. He was replaced by Matt Hage with 3:35 remaining in the contest. Hage stopped one shot and allowed SU's game-tying goal.
Syracuse will play a second scrimmage at Maryland next Saturday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. The Orange's first game is home at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Feb. 26, versus Army at 7:30 p.m.
