
Orange Prep For Second Shot At Panthers

SYRACUSE, NY -- Syracuse faces its third consecutive ranked foe when Pittsburgh comes to the Carrier Dome for an ESPN "Big Monday" tilt on February 14. The Orange lost to #19/14 Connecticut last Monday, 60-57, but rebounded to beat #22/25 Villanova on the road on Saturday, 90-75. Pittsburgh defeated Notre Dame, 68-66, in its most recent contest on Saturday.
The Panthers already own a victory against SU this season. Pittsburgh overcame a 22-5, first-half deficit on January 29 to defeat Syracuse, 76-69. The triumph halted SU’s 13-game winning streak.
Pittsburgh has won five of its last six. The lone defeat was an 83-78 overtime decision at West Virginia on February 5.
Guard Carl Krauser continues to lead the Panthers in scoring, averaging 15.8 points an outing. Forward Chevon Troutman is next at 15.0 ppg. and Troutman tops the clubs rebounders with an 8.0 average.
Syracuse leads the overall series, 60-31, and the BIG EAST regular-season portion of the rivalry, 30-13. Pittsburgh has captured five of the last seven matchups with the Orange.
