SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange football program will be represented by three seniors at the 2005 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this weekend, safety Diamond Ferri, running back Walter Reyes and offensive tackle Adam Terry. The combine, at the RCA Dome, gives the nation’s top draft prospects the opportunity to display their skills to NFL executives.
Ferri became the first player in BIG EAST history to garner both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors in the same week for his performance at Boston College. He finished the season ranked ninth nationally in kickoff returns with 27.1 yards per return. He led the team with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles. He set an SU record with 161 interception return yards. He was named to the 2004 All-BIG EAST First Team.
Reyes, a first-team All-BIG EAST selection, is first all-time at Syracuse with 45 career rushing touchdowns. He is second all-time at SU with 3,421 rushing yards. He is the all-time leading rusher in the history of the Carrier Dome with 2,239 career yards in 24 games.
Terry, a first-team All-BIG EAST selection, has started 35 consecutive games at tackle. He was part of an offensive line that blocked for the first SU duo to each run for over 800 yards (Walter Reyes and Damien Rhodes) since 1979.
This year’s combine will feature 326 college players. Since 1988, only three players have been drafted in the first round after they did not attend the scouting combine. Over 90% of the combine’s attendees are either drafted or signed as free agents.
