Syracuse Defeats Massachusetts, 5-2

AMHERST, MASS. – The Syracuse tennis team (3-1) won its third match of the season, 5-2, as it handed Massachusetts (4-1) its first loss of the season.
Syracuse was swept in doubles play and came back to win singles matches at the 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 positions. Freshman Victoria Vaynberg is now 4-0 this season in singles after defeating Michele Spiess , 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 1 singles position.
Freshman Catherine Zawadzki, sophomores Ashley Lipton and Katie Bramante and junior Wei-Ming Leong also had victories in singles play.
Syracuse is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 12 when it hosts Binghamton.
