Syracuse University offensive tackle Adam Terry was the 64th selection in the 2005 National Football League draft. The 6-foot-8 Terry was selected by the Baltimore Ravens, who traded three picks (the third and sixth-round picks this year and one next year) to New England for the right to choose Terry with the final pick of the second round. The 2004 All-BIG EAST First Team selection is the highest SU lineman selected in the draft since 1991 when John Flannery was the 44th selection by the Houston Oilers.
Terry is the highest SU player drafted since 2002 when defensive end Dwight Freeney was the 11th overall selection by the Indianapolis Colts. Terry is the first-ever Syracuse player to be drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, who moved to Baltimore from Cleveland in 1996. In 2002, SU linebacker J.R. Johnson signed with the Ravens as a free agent. Former Orange players who have suited up for the Ravens include wide receivers Kevin Johnson (2004) and Qadry Ismail (1999-2001), wide receiver Qadry Ismail (1999-2001), defensive linemen Rob Burnett (1996-2001), Paul Frase (1998) and current SU graduate assistant Ernie Davis Brown (1999), and Johnson (2002).
Terry, who started 35 games for the Orange, anchored SU offensive lines that blocked for running back Walter Reyes’ three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He also earned ECAC All-Star honors as a junior and senior.
A native of Queensbury, N.Y., Terry earned a degree in history from SU.
