SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University wide receiver Jared Jones signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles today. Jones becomes the 19th former Orange player to sign with the Eagles and joins former Orange quarterback Donovan McNabb.
Jones is tied for sixth on SU’s record list with 102 career catches and became the
16th player in school history to record more than 1,000 career receiving yards (1,189) and just the seventh to have more than 100 catches and 1,000 receiving yards. He was one of 13 players to start all 12 games and he received SU’s Duffy Daugherty Award as a Player’s Player and Coach’s Player. He led the team with 43 catches, 621 yards and three touchdowns, while averaging a career-best 14.4 yards per catch. He tallied a team-leading 15 receptions of at least 15 yards and was tied for ninth in the BIG EAST with 51.8 receiving yards per game.A native of Hillsborough, N.J., Jones majored in finance at SU.
