
Senior Anna Goodale earns another honor, for the third straight year.
Two SU Rowers Named National Scholar Athletes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse senior rower Anna Goodale and junior Catherine Henny were selected as 2005 National Scholar Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). The award recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher that competed in 75 percent of her team’s 2005 spring races. Also, the student-athletes selected were upperclassmen (2nd, 3rd, or 4th year) in terms of eligibility. A total of 142 student-athletes from 49 schools were honored for their efforts during the 2005 season. Goodale and Henny join 23 selections in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Goodale, a senior illustration major, garners the academic honor for the third-straight year. She is also a three-time CRCA All-Region First Team selection. This year’s Soladay Award winner and Orange Plus Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Goodale earned second team All-America honors last year and first team honors in 2003.
Henny, the 7-seat in the varsity eight boat all season, earns CRCA’s scholastic honor for the second-straight year. The junior also garnered CRCA All-Region Second Team honors this season.
The women’s varsity eight earned an at-large bid as one of 16 boats at the NCAA Championship in Sacramento, Calif. The Orange will begin racing on Friday in the Golden State.
