The Orange football squad will make its debut under the direction of first-year head coach Greg Robinson in the Carrier Dome against West Virginia at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 4 in a game that will be televised nationally on ABC. It will be the only BIG EAST conference game broadcast on ABC to the entire country this season. It is rare for ABC to carry only one game nationally.
“"This is exciting for the Syracuse family as we start a new era of football,” said SU Director of Athletics Dr. Daryl Gross. “Syracuse has and always will be considered one of the all-time traditional college football universities. I can't think of a better way to open the college football season than to showcase our team and University"
The 2005 Orange will also host Buffalo (September 10), Virginia (September 17, 12:00 p.m., ESPN or ESPN2), Rutgers (October 15), Cincinnati (October 29) and South Florida (November 12).
The Orange will play at Florida State (October 1), at Connecticut (October 7, ESPN2), at Pittsburgh (October 22), at Notre Dame (November 19, 2:30 p.m., NBC) and at Louisville (November 26).
Season tickets for the 2005 campaign are available online (www.suathletics.com) or at the Carrier Dome Box Office now. Call 1-888-DOMETIX (366-3849).
