FieldTurf Installation Begins on Football Practice Fields

More than half of one of Syracuse's two football practice fields has FieldTurf installed and the project is moving on schedule. The installation of FieldTurf on the two football practice fields -- the Maury Katz and Ben Schwartzwalder Football Practice Fields -- has a projected completion date of July 20. Preparation for installation of FieldTurf on the lacrosse practice field is underway with a completion scheduled for August 10. Four of SU's athletics fields, including the Carrier Dome, will have FieldTurf and a fifth, Coyne Field, will have brand new astroturf and underground water cannons to wet the field prior to games.
The replacement of the current Astroturf field in the Carrier Dome will begin on August 3 and is scheduled to be complete on August 25. The Coyne Field astroturf has been completely removed in order to install the underground water cannons and install the new Astro 12. The Coyne Field upgrade is scheduled to be completed by August 1.
