SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University donated eight rolls of Astroturf to the City of Syracuse on July 18. The portions of turf were taken from J.S. Coyne Field at the Lampe Athletics Complex and delivered to Burnet Park.
SU's Coyne Field is home to the Orange field hockey program, and serves as a practice facility for the football, lacrosse and soccer teams. Coyne Field is currently undergoing a face-lift with brand-new Astro 12 ready to be installed by a target date of August 1.
Syracuse University, along with assistance from the Ballard Construction Company, plans to donate more rolls of Coyne's former Astroturf to other organizations throughout Central New York in the near future.
