
Swimming Teams Finish Top 15 in the Country Among CSCAA Academic Squads

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse University women's swimming team combined for a 3.39 grade point average during the spring 2005 semester, placing the Orange in a tie for 14th place (out of 71 NCAA Division I teams) that were recognized by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on July 6. The SU men tied for 15th out of 48 teams with a team GPA of 3.14.
Gardner-Webb University had the highest women's team GPA in Division I swimming this past semester (3.61), while the Dartmouth College men took top honors with a 3.37 team grade point average.
Representing Syracuse as a 2005 CSCAA Individual Academic All-Star was sophomore Luk Boral (Poznan, Poland). To earn this status, student-athletes must post a minimum of a 3.5 GPA and qualify for the NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA championships. Student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA who earn NCAA "B" times are eligible for Academic All-Star Honorable Mention status. Boral qualified for the NCAA Division I Men's Championship for the second consecutive season, while achieving a spring semester GPA above a 3.5.
