WINDSOR, Ontario - Freshman Jillian Drouin finished in fourth place in the heptathlon last weekend at the PanAm Junior Championships while competing for Canada. The Championships were held at Windsor University in Canada. Drouin compiled 4811 points, which is her personal best and tops the current Syracuse record of 4734 points held by Sheron Mark.
Her fourth-place peformance included five personal records, including a 1.75m (5-8.75) high jump, which is an NCAA regional qualifying mark.
"It was a great freshman year for Jillian, especially to end with such a great score in a big meet like the PanAm Junior Championships. It certainly is exciting to think of what the future holds for her here at SU," said coach Enoch Borozinsky.
Terry Marshall, an incoming freshman this season, also competed in the Championships for Barbados. Marshall won the bronze in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.12 after running 52.02 in the trials. Both marks were better than the winning times in the BIG EAST Conference this past season.
