Volleyball Sweeps Two Matches At Kent State Invitational

KENT, Ohio – The Orange won a pair of matches in the final day of the Kent State Invitational on Saturday. In its first match, SU beat Dartmouth 3-0 (30-25, 30-25, 30-17), and then went on to defeat host Kent State 3-0 (30-19, 30-25, 30-26) in the nightcap. Senior Kelly Duan was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Against Dartmouth, Duan led all players with 12 kills and a team-high two blocks. Senior Kristen Conway was the only other player with double-digit kills with 10. Senior Aila Dommestrup dished out 30 assists in the win. Duan finished the match with a .455 hitting percentage while Conway hit .364.
In the final match of the tournament against KSU, Duan and Kelly paced the way again with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Dommestrup registered 34 assists as the entire team had a hitting percentage of .264.
SU went 3-1 in the tournament and improves its record to 6-2 overall.
SU travels to New Mexico next weekend to compete in its final tournament of 2005. The Orange will play a total of three matches on Sept. 16 and 17 at the Hilton Albuquerque Volleyball Classic.
