
Sullivan and Fry Score Again as Field Hockey Wins, 3-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Senior forward Paige Sullivan (Lebanon, Pa.) had a goal and an assist, while junior forward Ashley Fry (Douglassville, Pa.) and sophomore back Brittany Angellella (Manahawkin, N.J.) each added goals to help the Syracuse field hockey team to a 3-1 victory against St. Louis at Louisville on Sept. 24. The win improved the Orange's record to 4-4 on the season.
Sullivan and Fry each have a team-high six goals on the season. Sullivan broke open a scoreless game early in the second half with an unassisted goal (a rebound) at the 37:56 mark.
Fry gave the Orange a 2-0 lead with a penalty corner shot at 41:03. She was assisted by junior sweeper Michelle Sola (Blandon, Pa.) and junior forward Meg Ryan (Lancaster, Pa.).
Angellella tallied her first collegiate goal at the 48:10 mark. It also came off a penalty corner and gave the Orange a 3-0 lead. Sullivan and senior back Jessica Dahle (Farmington, Conn.) assisted.
Kristin Lueders scored St. Louis' lone goal of the afternoon. It came at 56:13 and was registered off a penalty-corner play.
Freshman goalie Heather Hess (Lititz, Pa.) played the game's first 55 minutes and recorded three saves. She was replaced by sophomore Marie O'Brien (Burlington, Ontario) who played the final 15 minutes and had three saves. Hess allowed the lone St. Louis goal.
SU outshot St. Louis, 15-10, and had a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Amy Wasserman was the goalie for the Billikens. She stopped four Orange shots.
Head coach Kathleen Parker and her team are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 25, when they take on new BIG EAST member Louisville at 1 p.m. The Cardinals are nationally-ranked. If Syracuse wins, it will be Coach Parker's 300th career win.
