UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Orange men’s track & field squad had three individual winners today at the Penn State Relays held at the Ashenfelter Track – Multi-Sport Facility. Junior Aulton Kohn took the title in the 60m Dash, sophomore Kyle Heath won the 3000m Run, and junior Dan Pribula finished first in the shot put. On the women’s side, senior Sarah Bentley took home the individual title in the pole vault.
Kohn finished the 60m Dash with a time of 6.78, which topped his own meet record he set a year ago. He ran the 60m Dash in 6.86 in 2005. Heath completed the 3000m Run in 8:24.40, which is also a new meet record. Senior Chris Muldoon placed in second in the race with a time of 8:25.04, which also topped the old meet record from last year. Pribula tossed the shot put 16.31m in his win. The second place finisher had a throw of 15.91m. Sophomore Marcus Vaughn had a strong showing in the 60m Hurdles, finishing fourth with a time of 8.32.
For the women, Bentley recorded a pole vault of 3.50m to take first place. Senior Jessyca Jackson finished fourth in the pole vault at 3.35m. Senior Christen Tucker placed fifth in the 60m Dash with a time of 7.88 while sophomore Kaitlin Lambracht finished fifth in the long jump at 5.37m.
Senior Johvonne Hernandez had a strong showing, placing second in the weight throw (17.70m) and fourth in the shot put (13.43m). Junior Sheron Mark also performed well, placing second in the triple jump (11.91m) and third in the high jump (1.65m).
In the 4x1 Mile Relay, the team of junior Kelly Pimm, sophomores Kathleen Sanborn and Meghan Rowcliffe, and freshman Nana Sang-Bender finished fourth with a time of 21:03.24. In the 4x400 Meter Relay, Lauren McClenney, Lori Robinson, Kelly Whitenack, and Amanda Pope finished fifth, clocking in at 3:59.21.
The track & field team is back in action next Saturday, Jan. 21 when it heads to Ithaca to compete in the Upstate Challenge.
