SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men’s (1-3) and women’s (0-4) swimming and diving teams will meet Seton Hall for the 15th time this Saturday, Jan. 28. The men lead Seton Hall 13-1 in the overall series, while the women hold a 14-0 record against the Pirates. The dual will be the Orange’s final BIG EAST road meet of the season.

The men lead Seton Hall 13-1 in the overall series, while the women hold a 14-0 record against the Pirates. The dual will be the Orange’s final BIG EAST road meet of the season.
In last year’s contest, both the Orange men and women recorded decisive victories. The women’s team won, 157-86, led by Melissa Clune (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) who took three events and Vanessa Duenas (Miami, Fla.) who won both the 200 and 400-individual medley. Luk Boral (Poznan, Poland) claimed victories in three events to help the Orange men’s team to a137-97 win.
Both teams are looking to bounce back from losses to Connecticut last week on Jan 21. For the men’s team, Rob Persico (Fulton, Md.) and Boral each took two first place finishes against the Huskies. Persico won the 100 and 200-backstroke competitions, while Boral won the 100 and 200 in the breaststroke. Boral holds the ninth best time in the nation in the 200-breaststroke this season. The women also had standout victories from Duenas in the 200-butterfly and Petra Zavadilova (Olomovc, Czech Republic) in the 100-butterfly. In diving, Tory McKenna (Westford, Mass.) put up a win on the one-meter platform.
The Seton Hall women’s team faces off with the Orange coming off a, 152.5-82.5, win against LaSalle on Jan. 17. Ashley Johnston had two victories for the Pirates. The Seton Hall men also met LaSalle but lost, 152-80. Mike LaRosa took first in two events for the men as well.
Action begins on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.
