Junior forward Tracy Harbut has been one of the Orange’s most consistent performers this season. Entering 2005-06 with a career scoring average of 3.3 points per outing, she has elevated her game to new heights in helping SU to a 9-11 record through 20 games.
Harbut is second on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg) and she is one of two players to start all 20 games for SU. The Lexington, Ky. native ranks third in the BIG EAST in assists average (4.95) and has played the entire game without coming out nine times this season, including remaining on the floor for all 45 minutes in SU’s 77-76 overtime triumph versus Providence on Jan. 28.
Harbut has established career-bests in every statistical category this year. Versus Louisville on Jan. 3, she scored a personal-high 24 points, the most points ever by an SU women’s basketball player in the Carrier Dome. She was 12-for-15 from the free-throw line in the game and her 12 makes from the charity stripe tied her for the sixth-most made free throws in one game in Orange history. Against Massachusetts on Dec. 10, Harbut registered a career-best 12 assists and scored 19 points to become the first SU student-athlete since Julie McBride in 2002 to record a points/assists double-double.
Here’s a little more information about Tracy:
Three people she would most want to have dinner with: “My mother, my father and my grandparents because I respect them all and they are very wise. They’ve been through a lot and if I can learn anything at all I would learn it from them.”
Three songs currently in her IPod:
- My First Love (Brian McKnight)
- Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It (D4L)
- Girlz (Nelly)
Favorite meal: Macaroni and cheese.
Harbut the rest of her SU teammates return home on Jan. 31 when they host Notre Dame in a 7:30 p.m. clash at the Carrier Dome.
