Syracuse director of athletics Dr. Daryl Gross announced today the promotion of football director of football operations and player development Reggie Terry to associate athletics director for football operations. A seven-year veteran of the football staff, Terry played linebacker for the Orange. He is currently completing work on his Ph.D. in Higher Education from Syracuse. An Orange football letterwinner, Terry has three Syracuse University degrees. He earned an undergraduate degree in history and education in 1993, a master’s degree in special education in 1994 and his C.A.S. in educational leadership in 1999.
“This is a way of recognizing Reggie’s outstanding work with our football team and administration,” Gross said. “He is a class act with tremendous character and work ethic. He has made an impact on so many people and student-athletes in such a positive way. He continues to have major responsibilities which he handles in the most professional way. This appointment, in my opinion, is long over due.”
Terry joined the Orange football staff in 2000 after working in Syracuse’s academic support unit for football for three years, coordinating the tutoring program and monitoring the academic progress of the football Orange. He has also worked as a teaching assistant, administrative intern and mentor at the University. During his playing career Terry was a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and earned the Hitachi Promise of Tomorrow Scholarship.
“Reggie is more than just a football operations guy,” said head coach Greg Robinson. “He works so well throughout the whole department. He is a person who is highly respected not just in the athletics department, but the entire University. I think it is obvious that he has earned his stripes. I am happy for him.”
Terry’s experience extends beyond the Syracuse football program. He worked with the National Football League’s Management Council, where he worked extensively with the league’s salary cap program and Player Compensation Management System (PCMS), in a one-year internship and was an intern with the New York Jets during the summer of 1996.
Terry and his wife, Tamicka, reside in Clay with their children, Ryon, Reggie II, Regen and Rory.
