Volleyball Hosts Colgate and Binghamton

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse will look to continue its winning ways when the Orange hosts Colgate and Binghamton on Tuesday. SU ended its 11-match losing streak with a 3-2 victory over Georgetown on Sunday. The Orange hosts Colgate at 4:30 and Binghamton at 7 p.m. Live stats will be available by clicking here.
Kaup Leads the BIG EAST in Digs Per Game
Junior Joscie Kaup currently leads the BIG EAST with 5.39 digs per game. Her season mark currently ranks first in the school’s history book. Kaup also ranks first in career digs per game (4.25), third in career digs (1,348) and fifth in career service aces per game (.32). Kaup’s .46 service aces per game in 2006 is the fifth-highest total in the BIG EAST
Junior Cheryl Cobbina and sophomore April Quigley also ranks among the best in the conference. Cobbina ranks fifth with 4.19 kills per game while Quigley is eighth with 10.33 assists per game.
October Success
Over the past two-plus seasons, Syracuse has thrived during the month of October. The Orange has posted a record of 22-2 in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Syracuse finished October 2004 with a record of 9-1 and October 2005 with a record of 12-1. SU is 1-0 so far in October 2006.
The Syracuse - Colgate Series
Colgate enters the game with a 9-7 record. The Raiders won their last match 3-1 (30-19, 31-29, 27-30, 30-28) against Lehigh on Saturday. Sophomore Katrina Zawojski leads the team with 4.29 kills per game and adds 2.51 digs per game. Sophomore Jackie Adlam leads the team and ranks 24th with 5.64 digs per game. Freshman Kelsea Loveless is second on the team in kills (2.75 kpg) and digs (2.93 dpg). Freshman Meghan Fanta is averaging a team-leading 11.37 assists per game.

In a series that dates back to 1972, Syracuse holds a 13-2 all-time advantage over the Bearcats. The Orange has won the last nine matches, including a four-game victory last season (28-30, 30-16, 30-26, 32-30). Binghamton’s last victory in the series came in 1976.
