Game Notes
The Syracuse Orange will look to get back to its winning ways as it prepares to face the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday at noon. The game can be seen live on ESPN Regional.
“(Cincinnati is) a 4-4 football team, we’re a 3-5 football team," said head coach Greg Robinson. "They’ve played some tough opponents and we’ve played some tough opponents. I think they’re a team they’d like to term a work in progress and I think we’re a work in progress. Who’s really better? That’s hard to judge until you get on the field. I see what their style is. Are we similar? Obviously. I think the game is going to be about breaks. It’s going to come down to that, who makes the breaks for themselves.”
The Orange has had a rough stretch recently, facing two nationally-ranked teams. Syracuse lost to #5/4 West Virginia two weeks ago and lost to #6/6 Louisville this past weekend. Robinson hopes that after those two games, the Orange will show an improvement this weekend at Cincinnati.
"It will come down to Saturday," Robinson said. "It will be an indicator as to how much we have been able to improve. Coach Mac has a saying that I gave to the team. ‘The finest steel is forged out of the hottest fire.’ It is true. You’d like to believe that. I also point out, Cincinnati’s played some fine football teams too. I think it’s going to be that the better team wins. We need to show up on Saturday and be the better team.”
