Orange Hosts Connecticut in Final 2006 Home Game

The Syracuse football squad will host Connecticut in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, November 18 at Noon. It will be the final appearance in the Dome for 17 student-athletes and two managers. The Orange enters the game with a 3-7 overall mark and a 0-5 record in BIG EAST play. Connecticut is 4-5 overall, 1-3 in league action. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Regional Television. Orange fans can listen to the Syracuse ISP Sports Network broadcast on Orange All Access (click here). Former Orange standout Chris Gedney will join Voice of the Orange Matt Park and analyst Dick MacPherson in the radio booth for the game. MacPherson was Gedney's coach during his Syracuse career. The Syracuse-Connecticut Series
The two schools have met twice with each team winning on its home field. Syracuse defeated Connecticut, 42-30, in the Carrier Dome in 2004. Last season, the Huskies beat the Orange, 26-7, in Storrs.

2006 Defense 10th on SU Season Sacks List
The Syracuse defense has gotten after opposing quarterbacks this season and is tied for 15th in the country in sacks with 29 (3.2 per game). The Orange's 29 takedowns with two games remaining this season is four more than a year ago. Syracuse has at least one sack in 14 of the last 17 games, dating back to 2005.
Orange Winning Turnover Battle
Syracuse is one of six programs in Division I-A with at least a +1.1 overall turnover margin. SU's 25 takeways on the year is tied for 10th nationally. The Orange is tied with Pittsburgh for the BIG EAST lead in the statistic.
