Rutgers defeated the Orange last season, winning 31-9 in Syracuse. Syracuse won the previous meeting, 41-31, also at home. Season Field Goal Record Within Shadle’s Reach
Sophomore kicker Patrick Shadle hit field goals of 35 and 44 yards in the Orange’s win against Connecticut on Nov. 18 to boost his season total to 16, two shy of the Orange’s season record held by Gary Anderson (1981). Shadle’s 16 made field goals is the most by an Orange kicker since John Biskup connected on 16 in 1992. A mid-season All-A merican by SI.com, Shadle had a string of 12 consecutive field goals made earlier this year and he has booted at least one in every game this season. He is 16-18 (.889) on field goal tries in 2006 and is 20-for-20 on point after attempts.

Carney holds the Syracuse records for most punts (265) and punting yardage (11,279) and ranks second in punting average (42.6).
