Cougevan and Mapes to be Inducted into Rochester Chapter of Lacrosse Hall of Fame

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse lacrosse standouts Pat Cougevan and Gordon Mapes will be inducted into the U.S. Lacrosse Rochester Chapter Hall of Fame on Friday, Jan. 26. The ceremony will be held at Logan’s Party House on Scottsville Road in Rochester. Registration for the event is $35 and the dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.
Cougevan played at Penn Yan High School before coming to Syracuse. He competed for the Orange from 1991-93 and served as a defenseman on SU’s 1993 national championship team. Cougevan scooped up 19 ground balls his senior season.
Mapes played for the Orange from 1984-87 and helped SU to two appearances in the NCAA title game (1984, 1985). An attackman, he was the Orange’s third-leading scorer in 1986 with 33 goals and 31 assists. He had at least one point in each of SU’s 17 games that year. In his final season, Mapes finished with 36 points. He played scholastically at Rush-Henrietta-Roth High School.
