Carter Takes Second In The Pentathlon In SU Invite

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – On the first day of competition in the Syracuse Invitational held at Manley Field House, freshman Kayla Carter (Racine, Wisc.) finished second in the pentathlon with 2,950 points. Classmate Stacie Boyle (Cupertino, Calif.) placed in third with 2,763 points. In the first four events of the men’s heptathlon, senior Craig Stivala (Colts Neck, N.J), competing unattached, is in first with 2,533 points.
Carter won the 60m high hurdles (9.78) and the long jump (5.11m) to pace herself to second place. Boyle took first in the 800m (2:29.62) and finished second in the long jump (4.95m). Stivala won the 60m dash (7.44) and the long jump (6.09m), and placed second in shot put (11.36m) and the high jump (1.80m).
Sophomore Zack Whalen (Jamesville, N.Y.) sits in third after the first four events in the heptathlon. He finished second in the long jump (6.02m) and third in the 60m dash (7.63)
Action for the men’s heptathlon continues tomorrow, Feb. 4, 10:00 a.m. at Manley Field House. Field events begin at 10:45 a.m., and the running events start at 1:45 p.m. Live results can be accessed by clicking here.
