SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Junior Luk Boral (Poznan, Poland) set new Webster Pool records in the 200-individual medley and the 100-breaststroke on Saturday against Villanova. The SU men (3-3, 2-3 BIG EAST) ended the dual portion of the season with its second consecutive victory on Senior Day, beating Villanova, 142-80. The women’s squad (1-5, 1-4 BIG EAST) came up short against the Wildcats, losing 133-100.

Boral set a new pool record in the 200-IM with a time of 1:52.91, surpassing the previous record time of 1:52.96, set by Daniel Karlsson in 1997. In the 100-breast, Boral finished with a time of 56.85 to oust the previous standard of 58.02, set by Spencer Raymond in 2003. In addition to setting two records on the day, Boral helped lead the 200-medley relay to a first place finish to start the day.
Senior Ryan Caponera (Latham, N.Y.) enjoyed success on senior day as he took first in the 50-freestyle with a time of 20.93 before winning the 100-free in a time of 46.52. He was also apart of the first place 200-medley relay.
Other Orange leading the way on Saturday included senior Rob Persico (Fulton, Md.) who won the 200-free in 1:44.01, while helping the 200-medley relay to first place. Senior Pat Mugavin (Northport, N.Y.) won the 1,000-free in 9:51.84, while senior Bobby Schelling (Albuquerque, N.M.) was the top finisher in the 100-backstroke with a time of 53.57. In the 100-butterfly, freshman Peter Gollands (Chelmsford, Mass.) came away victorious finishing in a time of 52.04.
In diving action, sophomore Patrick White (Poulsbo, Wash.) posted a first place score of 265.80 on the one meter board before going on to finish first on the three-meter with a six-dive score of 248.55.
On the women’s side, sophomore Vanessa Duenas (Miami, Fla.) led the way, finishing first in the 200-IM (2:07.30) before taking second in the 100-butterfly with a time of 57.81. Junior Randi Beaulieu (Mississauga, Ontario) swam to a first place finish in the 100-back (59.96), while sophomore Katie Maaske (Jacksonville, Fla.) won the 100-breast (1:06.68).
In the diving competition, senior Kelly Wright (Milwaukee, Wisc.) was the top SU finisher on both the one and three-meter boards finishing in third place on each.
SU has now completed its dual portion of the season and will resume competition Feb. 15-18 when it competes at the BIG EAST Championships in Uniondale, N.Y.
