ATLANTA, GA. -- Junior Luk Boral (Poznan, Poland) of the SU men’s swimming and diving team has qualified for the NCAA Championship 200 breaststroke finals to take place on Saturday night. He qualified for the finals with a school record time of 1:58.07 in the prelims on Saturday afternoon. Boral had held the previous record in the 200 breast with a time of 1:58.57, which he set in 2004. The championship is being held at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga.

Boral had held the previous record in the 200 breast with a time of 1:58.57, which he set in 2004. The championship is being held at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga.
In Saturday’s prelim, Boral placed 13th and ousted 2006 BIG EAST Champion Vali Preda of Louisville who finished 15th in 1:58.75. Finishing just ahead of Boral in 12th place was Virginia’s Vanja Rogulj who swam the event in 1:57.45.
This is Boral’s third straight trip to the NCAA Championship and has already improved in both events he previously competed in at the meet, the 100 and 200 breast. On Friday, Boral missed the finals of the 100 breast, however improved his standing from 38th in 2005 to 31st. In 2005, he finished 23rd in the 200 breast. He will finish in the top 16 this year after qualifying for the finals.
Boral’s time greatly improved on Saturday as he came in to the event with the 19th fastest time in the country of 1:58.71.
The finals will begin Saturday night at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center at 7 p.m.
