2006 Women's Soccer Schedule
SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Syracuse University women’s soccer 2006 schedule will consist of 17 games and includes four teams that finished in the top 25 of the final 2005 SoccerBuzz.com rankings. Syracuse will open the season on the road against Virginia (Aug. 25), who finished last season ranked eighth nationally. The team’s home opener will be a BIG EAST showdown with St. John’s on Sept. 15. The Orange will play seven home matches in 2006 and 10 road games. SU finished 2005 with a record of 4-12-4 and made its first post-season appearance since 2001 and first BIG EAST Tournament appearance since 2000.

After the team’s opener at Virginia, the Orange will head to William & Mary for an Aug. 27 match-up. Other non-conference road games include Wake Forest (Sept. 1) and Binghamton (Sept. 6). On Sept. 8 & 10 the Orange will take part in the Illinois Tournament in which the Orange will play Portland State in its first game with Illinois and Auburn will play in the other semifinal. SU will host Colgate in its only non-conference home game on Sept. 17.
SU will open BIG EAST play on Sept. 15 against St. John’s, which will also serve at the team’s home opener. Other BIG EAST foes visiting the SU Soccer Stadium in 2006 will be Pittsburgh (Sept. 24), Rutgers (Oct. 13), Seton Hall (Oct. 15), Marquette (Oct. 20) and South Florida (Oct. 22). The team’s final four regular season games will all be played on the Orange’s home pitch.
BIG EAST road games scheduled for the Orange in 2006 are at West Virginia (Sept. 22), Cincinnati (Sept. 29), Louisville (Oct. 1), Providence (Oct. 6) and Connecticut (Oct. 8).
The Orange will be playing six of its opponents for the first time in 2006. The team welcomes back 16 players from its 2005 squad.
