Track and Field Heads To The Big City For New York Relays

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Syracuse track and field team heads to Icahn Stadium in New York City to compete in the New York Relays on April 21-22. The Orange will look to add to its list of qualifiers for the NCAA Regional this weekend.
SU has qualified a number of student-athletes in the NCAA Regional, which will be held in Greensboro, N.C. on May 27-28. Eleven Orange men and women have already qualified for the meet in 14 events, including three student-athletes who have the best marks in their respective events in the BIG EAST.
Senior Tatiana Warren (Brooklyn, N.Y.) holds the conference’s best mark in the long jump this season with a leap of 6.02m. She also owns the second best triple jump at 12.53m. Classmate Johvonne Hernandez (Port Isabel, Texas) has the best throwing marks in BIG EAST in the shot put and the hammer. She also holds the third best mark in the discus. In the heptathlon, sophomore Jillian Drouin (Corunna, Ontario) broke the Syracuse record at the Hurricane Invitational with 4,954 points. That number is the best in the conference this season.
Sophomore Kaity Lambracht (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) is right behind Drouin in the heptathlon with the second best point total at 4,785, also obtained at the Hurricane Invitational. Senior Joshua Johnson (Columbia, S.C.) owns the third best triple jump in the conference at 15.14m, as does junior Sheron Mark (Diego Martin, Trinidad) at 12.49m.
