Orange Shooting For Fourth BIG EAST Title On Sunday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Syracuse Orange women’s rowing team heads down to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. on April 30 to compete in the 2006 BIG EAST Women’s Rowing Championship. The regatta begins at 8:30 a.m. on the lake, which features a 2,000-meter rowing course, and is located at Regatta Point State Park. Admission for spectators to enter the park is $5.00.
This is just the second year that the regatta has been conducted as a championship. Notre Dame is the two-time defending champion entering the event and is just the second team to earn back-to-back titles. The Orange won three-straight conference titles from 2001-2003.
The Irish are ranked No. 12 in the latest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing and is the only BIG EAST crew ranked. Louisville received seven votes in the last poll.The Syracuse second varsity eight is ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region going into the weekend.
Last year in the BIG EAST Championship, the SU varsity eight won with a time of 8:05.18 as the team finished fifth overall.
