The Syracuse men’s lacrosse has a 2-1 record in games played in the Carrier Dome on this date.
Syracuse hosted Massachusetts on this date in 2000. The Orange got off to a quick start, outscoring UMass, 7-2, in the first quarter, and didn’t allow a goal in the second quarter in a 17-7 victory. Josh Coffman scored a team-high four goals to go along with one assist. Michael Springer added three goals and two assists, while Liam Banks had two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Jason Gebhardt recorded 13 saves in 54 minutes of play.
In 1998, Hobart visited the Dome. SU outscored the Statemen, 5-0, in both the second and third quarters and went on to an 18-5 victory. Matt Cutia and Ryan Powell led the Orange’s offense with five and four goals, respectively. Casey Powell had two goals and a team-high five assists.
Syracuse played its final home game of its inaugural season in the Dome on this date in 1981. The Big Red from Cornell defeated the Orange, 13-7, marking SU’s first loss in the Dome. Syracuse finished its first season with a 4-1 record in its new home.
More than 23.5 million people have passed through the revolving doors of the Carrier Dome since the building’s first public event on September 20, 1980. Throughout the 2005-06 SU athletics seasons the University will celebrate the first 25 years of the Loud House.
