Novice Eight Wins At Orange Challenge Cup

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse hosted Penn and Northeastern for the Orange Challenge Cup on April 8 on a very cold Onondaga Lake. The novice eights came away with a win for the Orange while Northeastern won four of the five races on the day.
The novice eight finished the course in 7:52.42, edging the Huskies which clocked in at 7:58.31. Penn came in third at 8:10.32.
The varsity eight rowed well as it finished behind Northeastern for second place with a time of 7:32.75. The Huskies won with a time of 7:18.32. Penn finished the course in 7:37.51. In the second varsity eight race, Northeastern won with a time of 7:33.10. Syracuse came in second at 7:43.96 while Penn finished in third at 7:50.74.
Northeastern and SU rowed in the novice four race with the Huskies coming out on top. In the varsity four, Northeastern A won by 20 seconds at 8:36.79. Northeastern C finished the course in 8:56.79 and the Huskies B crew came in third at 9:02.13. Penn came in fourth with a time of 9:22.87.
The Orange is back in action next Saturday, April 15, when it heads to Hanover, N.H. to row against Dartmouth and Radcliffe.
