Edson To Receive ECAC-SIDA Irving T. Marsh Award

SYRACUSE, NY – Sue Cornelius Edson, Director of Athletic Communications at Syracuse University, will be presented with the 2006 Eastern College Athletic Conference-Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) Irving T. Marsh Award at the group’s annual convention on June 8 in Oneonta, N.Y.
The award is presented annually to an ECAC-SIDA sports information professional who, in the opinion of the ECAC-SIDA Board and the ECAC Service Bureau Director, has contributed most to the profession in his or her career. The 2006 ECAC-SIDA Workshop is scheduled for June 6-9 and the awards dinner will be held on June 8.
Edson is completing her 16th year on the athletic communications staff at Syracuse, the last nine as director. She served as an assistant director and later added responsibilities as publications coordinator before replacing the retiring Larry Kimball, a former Marsh Award winner, as director in 1997. Edson was a member of the ECAC-SIDA Board of Directors for nine years, including one year as president in 2002-03.
She is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and has received multiple CoSIDA publications awards during her tenure.
Edson served as the media coordinator for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship events held in Syracuse, including the 2000, 2002 and 2005 East Regional. She has also worked as an adjunct professor in the Newhouse School.
She graduated from Syracuse University in 1990 with a dual degree in broadcast journalism from the Newhouse School and policy studies from the Maxwell School.
Edson and her husband, Rob, reside in Jamesville with their son, Thomas, and daughter, Tracey.
