SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Four standouts that have signed to play women’s lacrosse at Syracuse in 2007 were named 2006 high school All-Americans by U.S. Lacrosse. Halley Quillinan and Deanne Abell were selected to the first team, while Christina Dove and Eileen Finn earned honorable mention laurels.
Players were selected by committees from each of the U.S. Lacrosse chapter areas. Qullinan was one of three players on the first team from the Adirondack chapter and Abell was one of seven first-teamers from the Upstate New York chapter. Dove was chosen in the Greater Baltimore chapter and Finn from the Connecticut chapter.
Quillinan also earned first-team All-America accolades last season and helped Bethlehem High School advance to the state semifinals in 2004 and to the state final in 2005. Earlier this year, she was tabbed as one of America’s top 19 “Young Guns” by Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
On June 18, Quillinan notched four points on three goals and an assist to help lead the North Girls to a 15-12 win against the South Girls in the first Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Classic.
Abell, an all-league goalkeeper for G. Ray Bodley High School, made 259 saves and had a save percentage of .60.4 percent in 2005. In her first three scholastic seasons, she compiled 744 saves and started every game while helping Bodley to the 2005 Section III Class B semifinals.
Dove was a 2005 high school Academic All-American and competed for the Northeast Maryland Select lacrosse club. She participated in three sports at Bel Air High School, playing basketball and soccer as well as lacrosse.
Finn was named to the 2006 Southern Connecticut All-Conference First Team out of Mercy High School. She was also a 2004 second-team all-conference pick.
