SYRACUSE, NY -- Baylor and Syracuse will meet for the first time in program history when the Orange hosts the Bears in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, December 16, at 7:00 p.m.
Baylor was 4-13 a year ago while playing a schedule limited by NCAA sanctions brought on by the previous coaching staff). Head coach Scott Drew, the son of Valparaiso mentor Homer Drew has a squad made up of 10 returning letterwinners, including four starters, and three incoming freshmen.
Baylor's top two returning players are guards Aaron Bruce (13.1 ppg.), a junior, and sophomore Curtis Jerrells (13.5 ppg.). McDonald's All-America Tweety Carter from Reserve Christian School (La.) is one of the program's more high-profile recruits in recent years. Incoming center Josh Lomers, a 7-1, 250 postman from Boerne High School (Texas), is another highly-rated recruit.
Syracuse has already announced home games with Charlotte (Nov. 22), Holy Cross (Nov.25), and Colgate (Dec. 9) for the 2006-07 campaign.
