Former Syracuse rower Anna Goodale was named to the United States National Team. She will represent the U.S. on the women’s eight at the 2006 FISA World Championships scheduled for August 20-27 in Eton England.
This is the second time Goodale will participate at the World Championships. She was a member of the women’s eight crew that finished fourth in Gifu, Japan in 2005.
A 2005 graduate, Goodale was recognized as a three-time All-American during her career at Syracuse. She earned first-team honors in 2003 and 2005 and was named to the second team in 2004. Goodale was also named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Mid-Atlantic Region All-American First Team her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
Goodale also received numerous academic honors during her four years at SU. She was recognized as the 2005 Orange Plus Scholar Athlete of the Year and she received the Soladay Award, the most prestigious award given to a student-athlete by the Department of Athletics. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I Second Team in 2005 and earned the CRCA National Scholar Athlete Award on three occasions.
During her tenure at Syracuse, the Orange won two BIG EAST Championships in 2002 and 2003 and made two appearances at the NCAA Championship (2002 and 2005).
Goodale is one of 85 rowers named to the National Team. The U.S. won seven medals last year in Japan.
