Many Syracuse student-athletes enter college with the hopes of one day playing in the professional ranks. For SU football players, many have accomplished their dream. There are currently 35 former Orange standouts who are in the NFL, including Quinn Ojinnaka who competes in the NFC South.
Ojinnaka, an offensive lineman, will begin his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons. He was drafted in the fifth round and was the 139th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Ojinnaka is one of six tackles listed on the Falcons’ depth chart. During his college career, Ojinnaka served as a key blocker for Damien Rhodes, who finished his career ranked ninth at Syracuse with 2,461 rushing yards.
Syracuse will kick off the 2006 season with an away game against Wake Forest on Sept. 2. The team then travels back to the Carrier Dome for the home opener against Iowa on Sept. 9. Season and individual game tickets are available via the internet and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (1-888-DOMETIX). To purchase tickets via the internet, click here.
