
Morris Returning to the Dome for Legends Day

Orange football legend Joe Morris will return to the Carrier Dome this Saturday (September 30) as part of Syracuse Univerity football Legends Day. Morris will be honored at halftime for his many contributions to the Syracuse program. Morris, who rushed for three touchdowns and returned a kickoff for another TD in the first game at the Carrier Dome on Sept. 20, 1980, holds the Orange records for rushing yards in a game (252), season (1,372) and career (4,299). He also owns the Syracuse standards for career carries (813), career rushing average (113.1 ypg), season rushing average (124.7 ypg, 1979) and most 100-yard games (22).

Morris concluded his SU career in 1981 and went on to play for the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns in the NFL. Morris was selected to two Pro Bowls in his NFL career and helped New York to a victory against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.
In 2005, former Syracuse greats Floyd Little, Tim Green, Rob Moore and Coach Dick MacPherson were recognized as part of "Legends Day."
