Four-time SU lacrosse All-American (1989-92) Tom Marechek will be inducted into the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Hall of Fame in 2007. Marechek joins Darris Kilgour, Mike French and Tom Borrelli in making up the 2007 class, which the league announced on Sept. 5.
Marechek was a member of the 1989 and 1990 SU national championship teams as a freshman and sophomore and in his junior season of 1991 registered 53 goals, the fourth-best single total in school history. He also ranks second on the Orange’s career goals list (182) and seventh in career points (258).
Marechek played twelve seasons (1994-2005) in the NLL, all with the Philadelphia Wings. He retired at the end of the 2005 season as the league's third all-time leading scorer with 773 points on 399 goals and 374 assists. He led the Wings to four championships during his career and he was named an All-Pro eight times.
This summer he teamed with Orange lacrosse legend Gary Gait to help Team Canada to a gold medal at the International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) World Championship.
